MISTIC provides opportunities for both educators and students K-12 to explore science, technology and innovation in new and exciting ways. Throughout the school year, MISTIC coordinates science outreach activities and events that we hope, will spark a life-long interest in science and technology as a career.
Aboriginal Science Fair Celebration

MISTIC hosted the 2nd year of the Aboriginal Science Fair Celebration, a pilot project in partnership with School District 72 Campbell River and the Science Fair Foundation of BC. This science fair celebration showcased 148 science projects from 180 students from three elementary schools in Campbell River. The projects highlighted Aboriginal science, technology and traditional ways of knowing.

On Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 10:30AM – 4:30PM, MISTIC, in partnership with Stz’uminus (Chemainus) First Nation, Snuneymuxw (Nanaimo) First Nation, Snaw'Naw'As (Nanoose) First Nation, School District 68 Nanaimo-Ladysmith and Science World, is hosting the 3rd annual First Nations Community Science Celebration – a family oriented community event that blends cultural teachings with the innovation of science and technology, and celebrates the science all around us! This FREE family event is the culmination of one week of science, technology and innovation activities taking place throughout the Mid Island. The celebration will include eye-popping science shows by Science World, traditional First Nations science and technology demonstrations and activities, and an opportunity to meet all the people in your community doing cool science everyday!
