About Us

"To Advance the Growth and Prosperity of Technology Industries"

The Mid-Island Science, Technology and Innovation Council (MISTIC) acts as the 'first point of contact' for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME’s), entrepreneurs, students, business persons and researchers seeking information related to knowledge sector industries.

Our role is that of catalyst, facilitator and liaison with industry, post-secondary institutes and government to ensure that the region’s potential for growth in the technology sector is realized. MISTIC’s success lies in building partnerships with business, education, financial and other professional institutions, local governments, and with agencies of similar mandates.

We have developed strong ties to Island-based Economic Development Offices, Chambers of Commerce and Community Futures agencies, in addition to Aboriginal business development organizations.

MISTIC is one of nine regional councils in the Province of British Columbia and is a member of the BC Regional Science and Technology Network (BCRSTN).

MISTIC’s goals are:

To act as a catalyst for advanced technology industrial development to revitalize and diversify the Mid-Island regional economy;

To provide access to federal, provincial and other science and technology related programs and initiatives;

To act in collaboration with Technology Transfer Centres to enable companies to transfer and adopt technology for economic advancement;

To foster awareness of science, technology and innovation issues and opportunities among all stakeholders, including students, educators, business, local government, community organizations and agencies; and To promote mentors to bridge the gap between ideas and market success.
